8/18/2023 0 Comments San jose winchester house tour**FUNNY FACT – Macie said “Should we really be talking down about the Empire State Building after what happened in 9-11…………………. *FUN FACT – our tour guide told us it has more windows than the Empire State Building* We did the Mansion Tour where you see 110 of the 160 rooms – but there is also another option for an Explore More Tour where you can see the other parts of the house that are just recently being opened to the public – kind of wish we would have done this one because I saw all the groups walking around with hard hats and it made me think that maybe it was a little more adventurous HAHA! The tour was super cool and I would definitely recommend going if you are in the San Jose area! Tickets are $20 for children or $39 for adults. Let’s just leave it at this lady was STRANGE!!! The house features the number 13 multiple times throughout in many different ways, windows in rooms, windows with 13 panes, 13 steps on the stairways, 13 ceiling panels in many ceilings. Sarah Winchester was a short lady, so the house was built for her…which means if you are tall, be prepared for lower walkways and doors! The Winchester Mystery House in Santa Clara is an extravagant and eccentric Victorian mansion with a curious past. We really enjoyed our tour! You walk in and purchase your ticket at the gift shop and then enter the tour in the court yard where your tour takes about an hour! Definitely wear some good walking shoes, our tour guide told us by the end of the tour you walk about a mile. Y’all this house is CRAZY!!! There are doorways that lead to nowhere, staircases to ceilings, hidden passages and close to 160 rooms! It won national attention from a recently released movie Winchester: The House that Ghosts Built.Īs our tour guide told us, the movie has very little to no truths….but it did bring a lot of media attention back to the home! The house was constantly under construction until her death!
